Song Cycle, Whelans, Dublin, 06.07.15

Song Cycle is a free entry Monday night event in the front bar of Whelans, probably Dublin's most venerable music venue. The performers' stage is at the front of the premises and, when the weather is fine, the front window is opened onto the busy Wexford Street/Camden Street. Organised by John Byrne, there is a lovely atmosphere in the place. Last Monday night's show had a pretty stellar line up (remember that entry is free) with performers from Belfast, New York and Dublin. I heard about SONG CYCLE from Dennis Driscoll (from Inwood, NYC) who performed three spoken word pieces. Other artists included Rory Nellis, Jem Mitchell, Overcoats, Dave McGuiness, Duncan Maitland. I think I missed a couple of others (and a smashing jam at the end of the night too).
