Glass Animals, The Academy, 14.03.15.

Glass Animals appear to have grown a large fan base very quickly if the sold out show at The Academy Dublin is taken as a yardstick. The Saturday night show had the venue packed to the gills. The four piece band from Oxford released the debut album 'Zaba' only last year. Perhaps the best received track on the night was the single 'Gooey' , a mesmeric, languid belter of a tune with hints of Massive Attack and FKA Twigs. The video for the track is also intriguing (see below). The set at The Academy was essentially a run through of the aforementioned album. I didn't anticipate the groove and infectious dance vibes from the band. People everywhere, on the floor, on the balcony viewing area, on the stair landings were just dancing with abandon. It reminded me of the recent Caribou show in Vicar Street. Glass Animals are returning to Ireland to play some festivals. The band will be a big crowd puller during the Summer of Disco Tents.
